..you can blow $635 bucks on a friggen set of Campy cranks?!

I get the whole NOS thing but I mean, really???

This Thanksgiving weekend I spent a lot of time..

..playing with Carbon Fiber and I have to say, it's an interesting material and or medium to work with. Like metal, it is stiff, strong and relatively forgiving. It also makes a wicked mess in the form of carbon dust that gets all over EVERYTHING whenever you cut or file away at it:

Scary, aren't I..?

Scary handsome that is - BAH!

No seriously, I'd fuck me if I was a chick.. when I wasn't fucking, other, super, hot, chicks of course..

Right, anyways.. I was fortunate enough to procure a few broken road frames from my LBS to play with. Alas, I have reached the end of my supply's usefulness and am in need of some more. I looked online and found that you can purchase pieces but 1) I'd really rather not have to buy the shit only to bugger it up later since I'm still in the experimental phase and 2) Fuckin' shits expensive as fuck!

So.. For those of you who find yourselves with basement access to higher end bike shops specializing in broken carbon fiber frames slated for the trash, or perhaps even something of your own that you'd like to see new life breathed into, please let me know. I'd def pay for shipping and toss something your way for the effort..

Double your pleasure, double your fun!

I'm kinda digging on this dual drive set-up from White Industries:

The Double/Double is a unique drive train system the we offer. The system is comprised of a double chainring machined from one piece of aluminum, mated with an ENO crank and a DOS ENO freewheel. The configuration for a 26" wheel bike is offered with a 38/35 big ring mated with a 16/19 freewheel. The 29er configuration mates a 31/34 ring with a 16/19 freewheel. The system works by either running the chain in the outer tooth positions or, alternatively, in the inner tooth positions front to back. The gear ratios are significantly changed when switching from one combination to another, however, the chain length does not need to be altered to accommodate the two differing ratios. Running the ring in the outer position tends to be more suitable for on-road style riding, whereas, riding in the inner ring position lends itself more to off-road riding.

Seen here and here's some more photos from NYCfixed:

Nerdy and CNC Machined to perfection- I dig it!

UPDATE: This is one of Fastboy's jams- More pics here!

Alright you mofoz, help me find some more Dura Ace 10!

After enjoying the shit out of it on the Naggie, I'm down to set up the 3Rensho with it now. Aside from loving the ride enough to want another group, it also seems more 'period appropriate' for that particular frame. Which I normally wouldn't give two shits about but in this case I'm okay with making an exception..

I just got this NOS chain in the mail today:

While that one set me back a hundy, I did get another one in great used condition along with a small chunk of links and another 14T cog for $30! The great thing about having that extra chunk is that I'll be able to make my own chain whip. Unless of course I (or you) can find me one of these:

aaand one of these would also be nice:

What KILLS ME is that I just recently had the chance to aquire another set of hubs and a shitload of rings/cogs but I blew it. The auctions ended before I set the Naggie up. Had I known how much I would enjoy the ride and feel of the DA10 I would've been all over that shit! There's some NOS rings up there right now but they're a bit pricey. I'm in no rush so I'm going to hold out for a better deal. Paying a high price for a chain is one thing but the rings shouldn't be that much..

So keep an eye out! ESP FOR A 15T COG!!

I'll be sure to compensate you in some manner for your efforts..

Nice cranks!

..and stuff

Speaking of stuff, I think a part of my soul died after having viewed approximately 50% of this website:

You'll both love and hate me for that link..

Now if you don't mind I think I'll get back to eradicating what little is left of my self dignity..

UPDATE: The dude posted more photos up of his voluptuous lady friend:

There really is nothing better than a unconscionably cute asian mix type chick with big bountiful breastststssssszzz is there?! God almighty what I wouldn't give for a proper face washing with a set of those bad boys!

You know how Peanut Butter and Jelly go well together?

Well Aerospokes and Traditional Americana style Tattoos DO NOT!

Again.. PBJ good:

Americana Aerospoke BAAAAD!

My favorite part about the listing is in the description:

Painted by a very well known artist here in LA names Kelli (Pink haired chick in 30 seconds to Mars new Video "Kings and Queens"

I think the most shocking thing about that statement is that the people in the video are like, real live people as opposed to extras..

It's aaaaaall in the details!

There was a conversation yesterday on the NYCfixed board about fork crowns on 3Rensho's and I promised to make some snaps of mines to post up for people to see. Not sure why I never really bother taking more of these type of shots when I'm actually photographing my bikes. In any case, I started with some snaps of the 3Rensho and figured, welp, got my janky ass light set up going already.. Might as well take some more! Just keep in mind that not only am I SO NOT a studio photographer and I was a liiiiitle stoney when taking these. You'll just have to forgive me for the poor lighting quality going on with them. There's also a lot of dirt the Macro lens picks up on so yes, I do ride my bikes and no, I don't really like spending too much time cleaning them up.. Aside from that- enjoy!

I somehow completely spaced on taking some of the Nagasawa :(

Wasted POTential..

Love it or hate it, people smoke marijuana - lots of it. In some states marijuana consumption and posession have been decriminalized, and even legalized for medicinal purposes. But, have you ever wondered how large the economics of Marijuana were? Us too. As a result ,have decided to put together this graphic, which illustrates the popularity of marijuana consumption, the federal tax dollars spent to keep marijuana illegal, and the possible tax revenues that could be generated if marijuana production were legalized and taxed like any other agricultural product. It is especially interesting, with regards to the Great Recession:

Just sayin' yo..

Just a few pics from the Rockaways..

I rode with few of the fellaz from the NYC fixed forum out to the Rockaways this past Sunday but not before bumping into the Prollmeister beforehand for like 50th time, hehe. Take note of the comments BTW, they're pretty amusing. Anyways, it was all wicked hazy and foggy-ish out so I made a meager effort to take some snaps:

Few more here..

Probably one of the last 65 degree days we're going to get out here so it was nice to spend the day hanging out and riding. I'm hoping we luck out and get at least one more awesome day like this..

I'm kinda laughing my ass of right now..

..because someone was actually stupid enough to spend $4000 mother fucking dollars on a 'rare' fucking paint job:

Though I suppose that's better than paying, what was it?, a 100k for two frames and a gold group or something?? Can't remember. While I am a wealth of useless knowledge, I make it a point to try and put the stupid ass BS behind me..

If the dude had any smarts he would've spent HALF the money on a radder one instead..

Hohoooly fuck what about Cypress Hill??!!!

yeheheheeeessss!!!

Local NYC peeps need to keep an eye on the background in this one:

Then there's Fu Schnickens which is a group that will be forever synonymous with the name Sean Sheffey:

Then there's the Red Hot Chili Peppers of rap:

Onyx - Slam
Uploaded by bullback.

aaand when they got together with fucking Biohazard:

Not that either of them needed any help from each other since the dudes from Biohazard are pretty fucking scary:

I mean come on, the
impromptu mosh pit across the Brookyln Bridge?! AMAZING!!

Biohazard was like a less talented East Coast version of Suicidal Tendencies:

You Can't Bring Me Down

SUICIDAL TENDENCIES | MySpace Music Videos

Then I recognized the Lead Guitarist from Body Count which I couldn't find an actual video for:

Though I did spot this interesting interview with Ice-T on Arsenio:

But if you really want to get into the whole rap/metal mash up thing there's the originals so far as I know:

Run DMC ft Aerosmith - Walk This Way -

TREMULA outta ENA GHEMA | MySpace Video

The latter of which is my personal preference. Though when I think about the genre that these two songs help to nourish I kind of wish they never happened. Just think, you too could have lived a life without the likes of Fred Durst..

Oh. My. God.. I tooootally forgot about this Anthrax song:

Anthrax - Got The Time - Watch more Videos at Vodpod.

The scariest part of which is my memory of a super shitty home made skate/music video I made from the video and me skating with my pop's old VHS camera. It was the biggest POS and if I had a working vcr I might try and dig it up. I've got douche chills runnin' up my spine just thinking about it!

In any case, I hope you've enjoyed this 90's throw back. I think I'll end it here before I get into the really, really awful stuff..

Got something Super Rad for sale? Let me know and I'll post it up..

As you all know, I occasionally toss things up here from friends for sale. Of course it's only really bitchin' stuff otherwise I wouldn't bother you with it. So if you're looking to pass something on that's really super special and you'd prefer it in the hands of someone who can truly appreciate it, email what you've got to me along with some nice pics, description, contact info and price + shipping. So long as it's good shit and not exorbitantly priced, I'll post it up!

I've added a new sidebar for this as well..

Super HOTT F.Moser for your super hot (or mediocre) Lady friend!

This thing is all types of bllllaaaazzzin' hott!

This is one of those frames you want to buy for that imaginary girlfriend who would actually appreciate something like this. You know, the one you just know is out there, most likely riding with someone else WAY more interesting and wealthy than yourself. Though somehow still not quite as cool as you'd like to think you are..

yyyep.. laughed myself to sleep with that one..

Choose Your Own Adventure Townie Chapter 2: Components!

That's it- The DeBernardi takes it! Time to break out with the cut off wheel, files and fine sandpaper :-D

..or is it???

With a frame picked out it's time to move on to components. There's lots to choose from but take care to choose wisely for there are many potential plot twisting complications around each turn..

Cranks:

What we have here is a set of Paké's, Andel 1.0's and a set of Campy Pista TANDEM cranks. Please note: While the campy cranks are the obvious choice keep in mind that I will have to switch out the axles of either the road or track MKS pedals to make it a right hand drive. The NOS arm in the bag is a matching Tandem Pista arm from a different year. Though the only problem being that the shield on the drive side is closer to the crank bolt hole and is engraved while the NOS one is painted and in the middle. The ugly looking arm is actually a Strada road arm which could use some work but would match more perfectly..

Chainrings:

Suntour Superbe 44T or a Sugino 75 44T? (The Campy cranks have a 44 Campy ring on there now)

Yes, using track gear in the front should be fine with a wide ass 7 or 8 speed chain. I can always swap out a ring if need be..

Bars, Brake Levers and Grips:

Some Nitto alloy Northroads style bars or the chrome jammies I took off some junky dutch bike.

The two larger brake levers do not have matching opposing sides for now and the Cane Creek ones would require a slight shim to fit the alloy bars..

Stick with the cork cheapy grips or..?

Seat posts:

Vintage Campy fluted, Vintage Shimano DA fluted (shim needed), Kalloy Suspension, Ti post from an unknown maker..

Stems:

Cinelli 90mm (needs work), Cinelli 100mm and this wonky Major Taylor stem that also needs a little work..

Headsets:

Vintage Dura Ace, Tange or Campy Brev (missing bottom race)

Derailleurs:

Vintage Dura Ace or Shimano 600? They both need to be rebuilt/completed..

Bottle cages:

Bottle cage, bottle cage, Whisky Flask holder, Bottle cage..

We all know what the answer to this one is going be you alchy bastards so:

Which flask is it gonna be:

Honey, fake croc or nood..

Accessories:

Vintage stop/pocket watch holder or a wireless WTF ever computer..

Brakes:

All I've got that's worth while is these Campy Athena- ssSHIT.. wait, I've got some similar old Dura Ace single pull ones as well. Spaced on those..

Shifters:

..and so the plot thickens!! Stick with the original plan or take a potential step towards unraveling everything and having to start the whole story over again :-O

Please note that whatever I've left out I either don't have enough to choose from yet or you have no choice in the matter at all..

Chapter 3 has more in store for you than you could possibly imagine! Let's see if ya'll can make it there first..
