Fuhhh, fuuuuhhh, fuuuhhhcking $1025 for Aerospokes?! WHAT. THE FUCK????!!!!!!

:I mean come on, really. Who in fucks name pays DOUBLE for a set of USED wheels you can get new for like $600???????????? I'm sorry there's a 2-3 month waiting list but seriously. Get a fuuuucking grip!

UPDATE: Turns out it was a hijacked account who set the bids so high: "This is a relisted item due to the previous bidder's account being highjacked." The auction was relisted...

ANOTHER UPDATE: Okay, about 3 hours after my previous update I check my ebay watch list and I see that the wheels, originally re-listed at $400 to start, are already at $915.99! Craziness! Now I'm not sure if people are fucking around or if they're serious...

LAST FUCKING UPDATE: Reasonable price for Aerospokes here for the trendsters...

Not sure what this is going to mean for the blog. Hopefully it won't slow me down too much and I keep bringing you various tasty tid bits of cycling delicacies. The biggest and best thing the new job move will bring me is a 25% increase in salary. Which I plan to spend ALL of on miscellaneous cycling goodies! New project anyone? Suggestions perhaps??

BEAUTIFUL Shwinn Paramount P-15 in MINT condition!

I really need to jump on one of these some day. I once saw my dream Paramount set-up at Via Bicycles of Philly. I was hanging out looking at the SICK collection upstairs and they just got in a matching set of early 70's Paramounts BRAND NEW IN THE FUCKING BOX. The white one's with the red and blue box striping. One Track, one Road. They said they got them both for next to nothing and when I asked if they'd sell em, they answered me with a big fat no. My heart has been broken from that moment on- sniff, sniffle :(

My Tall bike build now COMPLETE...

I built this tall bike a while ago but only recently completed it. Worked all the bugs out of the drive train and everything. Pain. in. the. aaaaass! But well worth it because now I have a 6 speed tall bike cruiser that I really have absolutely no use for. Awesome! Well, it was the challenge that drove me on this one. I'll just keep telling myself that anyways...

Close up of drive train...

Nice big step makes getting on easy...

More pics...

The reason I started this project is because I've always gotten a huge kick out of tall bikes. I've seen them around the city at various meets like Critical Mass etc.. I've always wanted to ride one but I don't know anyone who actually owns one. I had recently purchase a MIG welder to help fab up the exhaust on my car. Since I had a few old street find frames lying around I figured: Shit man, why not just make one myself?. At first I was just planning on making it a single speed. As I progressed with the project I decided to make it more interesting by adding gears. That and I live in a hilly area and I knew gears would come in handy when trekking around on this thing. I also had nearly all the parts just lying around along with some scrap metal. The only parts I bought specifically for this build was a set of long reach brake calipers, tandem length chain and a set of corner cable guides. The biggest challenge was working out the issues with the drivetrain. Chain tension along with making sure it didn't rub anywhere was a hassle. Also making things difficult was having to attach all the little cable guides with a goddamn MIG welder. Very frustrating. Once everything was all welded up I gave it a nice Krylon can job and wired it all together. I have to say it rides really well. The gears shift pretty good and aside from knowing you're really high up basically feels like a regular bike. Def a fun ride. Thankfully I haven't fallen on it yet and I REALLY hope I never do. The two frames I used are a 57 and 59cm ctc size making this thing very TALL. Now I just need to go on an extended ride and see how it handles over longer distances. I def need time to get used to it. Riding with your ass sitting way above car roofs is somethin' else!

Is a used Bianchi Pista Concept really worth $738?

Hells fucking No! Who in god's name would pay that much for a used concept frame?? Much less and new one. A NEW one is what, $600? I mean, I know that they're pretty desirable and all but come on! Shit, if a used one goes for that much on ebay I'd LOVE to see what a new one would go for. Damn.. If I didn't love mine I'd sell it just to see how much I could get...

What the.. Wooden Bars??!!!

I just spotted these wooden bars on Flickr. That's right, WOODEN bars! I did some research and found out that they're a "beta test version" of sorts built by Fast Boy Fenders. I mentioned FBF a couple months back when I first saw their kick ass wooden fenders. As for the bars, I think they look awesome! Hopefully they'll be available in different styles, choice of wood and stain. They could eventually be the hot new accessory for those interested in leather and wood clad retro style bicycles...

Red with Envy or Red with Hate?

Here's my newly re-re-completed (I know it's WAY too red) Mercian Vincitore Track bike. I recently had this mofo resprayed because as you can see from it's initial incarnation the lavender panels were reeeeally annoying. That and the original red was tired looking. Lord knows there's NOTHING better than a fresh coat of candy apple red to get a goooood chub goin'!
Pics now, specs and story later...

Saved the best for last:

Lots more pics on my Flickr set...

I acquired this frame a few years ago and have been loving and building it up ever since. Not really sure why I went all crack head crazy with the red. I guess I just really dig monochromatic bikes. Anyways, I originally bought it with the Campy cranks (pictured), Phil Wood Bottom Bracket, Zipp 440 carbon rims laced to Campy Sheriff Star hubs along with a bunch of rag tag parts for $300.......... No, I'm not shitting you. I paid $300 for EVERYTHING. It's an amazingly LONG story which I promise I'll tell one of these days in another post. In any case, it looks NOTHING like it did when I first got it. It's totally tricked out in all types o' RED now sucka!...

Specs:

Vintage Philipe Adjustable stem and Bars
Chris King Headset
Campagnolo Record Pista cranks
Phil Wood BB
MKS RX-1 pedals
Campagnolo Aero Post
Richard Sachs Selle Saddle
Velocity Deep V's laced to Phil Wood Hubs
And an assload of other red parts...
